Day 21 – Link to your favorite fanfiction

I haven’t read many fanfictions these days, but there’s one that I’ve come across a little while ago that I really, really liked. It’s a Kawoshin fanfic and it’s right over here, if you fancy reading it ^^.

Day 20 – Favorite theme (school life, vampires, neko, etc.)

Hmmm… well let’s get one thing out of the way – I sure as fudge don’t go for the whole neko thing… as of yet :D.

Thinking about the BL stories I’ve read/watched so far (which sadly isn’t all that much), I mostly prefer the more realistic slice of life/school life themed stories. I guess it’s kind of nice to see a pair’s relationship in the context of their everyday life and struggles and whatnot (not to mention the comedy that can come out of it ೕ(˃̵ᴗ˂̵ ๑) ).

sih

For example, one of the things that made Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi all the more entertaining for me was all the info about what it’s like to work in the publishing industry, the process that a manga goes through before actually being printed, Onodera having to adjust to his new workplace and all the drama that it comes with, etc.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 19 – BL manga you think should be animated

First of all, can I just say that I can definitely remove Doukyuusei from that list, as its adaptation will premiere this February??? (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))). tumblr_madfjwU90k1qfkm7e

Hormones aside, I think I’d like to see several (well ideally, loads) of BL manga adapted for the big/small/medium/etc. screen ^^.

  • I can’t get  enough for it, so I still secretly hope that In these words will one day be made in to an anime :D.
  • Pretty much all the nice BL that Kyuugou-sensei writes ^^.
  • Saruiu (洒涙雨) by Hoko-sensei.
  • Seven days (セブンデイズ) by Takarai Rihito-sensei.
  • Hidamari ga kikoeru (ひだまりが聴こえる) by Fumino Yuki-sensei.
  • …and the list can go on.

Still, while we eagerly await for more better-quality BL to be animated, I’ll just say that I’m very thankful to all the mangaka who spend their time and energy on writing and drawing what they do and keeping in touch with the community (⋈◍>◡<◍)。✧♡.

PS: I know I skipped a day, but that’s because I’m saving that post for when I finish reading Sweet pool. There are other BL stories that broke my heart, but I want to try and include a bit more titles throughout the challenge :D:D.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 17 – Favorite BL website

Today’s post is gonna be really short, as I don’t really know what more to say other than what’s in the title. I don’t really have a favourite BL website (as i mostly just google what I’m looking for and see where that takes me :D), but one website that I really like is aarinfantasy .

tumblr_mpm0vcOjiE1rhxw7eo1_500

So, I guess I’ll take the opportunity to thank the people at aarinfantasy and everyone else who’s ever written, drawn, translated, scanned or taken the time to spread any BL content in any way. Not to mention all the help and support one can find on their forums.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 16 – Favorite opening theme song

Yellow there! It’s freaking snowing outside as I’m writing this O__o. Ok, local weather report aside let’s move on to today’s topic!

While the title can be misleading if, like me, you wanna be a smarty-pants and go all ‘well, that can refer to an OP from any type of series, right? xD’, I dare say it refers to a theme song from some sort of BL ^^”.

Trouble is that I approached this post with my heart set on writing about how much I love the song Ashita, Boku wa Kimi ni Ai ni Iku. (明日、僕は君に会いに行く。) by Wakaba (ワカバ). And then I look it up on MAL again, only to find out that it’s actually an ED  (oT-T)尸.

After doing a bit of thinking though, I think I’ll go with Tsuki no Curse (月のカース) by Okina Reika (翁鈴佳), from the oh-so-fabulous Loveless (ラブレス).

loveless

The song was written and composed by Yuki Kajiura (梶浦 由記) and is probably the only good thing about the series. I guess what makes me like this OP instead of others is that it’s somehow more mature. The OPs for Sekai-Ichi and Junjou, for example, are nice as well but for some reason they always seemed a wee bit over the top. Or maybe I’m left with that impression because of the animation part of those OPs xD. Tsuki no Curse on the other hand just feels like an overall balanced song, powerful enough to stand on its own.

I hope at least some of the above makes sense :D. As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 15 – Recommend a BL for your followers

I know I’m repeating myself here (probably more than usual), but I cannot recommend In these Words and its side stories enough!  ヽ(;^o^ヽ)

Still, I’ve already went on about that series so for today I’ll go with Bokura ni Matsuwaru etc. (僕らにまつわるエトセトラ) by Kyuugo.

image

It’s basically one manga volume containing 6 chapters and a total of 3 different stories. I guess it’s safe to say that the couple we’re introduced to in the 1st chapter is the main couple of the manga volume, as they have a total 3 chapters dedicated to their story. Aside from the beautiful art typical of Kyuugo-sensei, we’re again introduced to a series of heart-warming stories that manage to be full of fluff (at times), but also pain and realism and some nice character development, especially considering the length of the stories.

I’ve only recently read this manga and from what I understand, it has a sequel as well. Either way, that’s for you to discover more about should you wish to read the manga :D.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 14 – Would you be a seme or uke

Well thank the BL gods I managed to stumble upon this here website one faithful day, took a quiz and confirmed part of what I already suspected – I’m an uke  (◍˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍)ノ”. Specifically, a clueless uke!

So the official description of the clueless uke, according to semeuke.com, is as follows:

You are a Clueless Uke!

image

Having a good time is what you’re all about. You’re satisfied just to have someone to eat hamburgers and play video games with, and are completely oblivious to others’ manipulative behavior. You don’t expect much, and that can be a good thing. You’re perfect prey for the Opportunist Seme, who might take advantage of you, but you probably won’t even notice, or really care, as long as you’re enjoying yourself.”

Enjoy taking the quiz if you haven’t done so already and as always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 13 – Favorite doujinshi

Ok, I wanted to mention these titles and artists in earlier posts, but thank god for day 13! 😀

True, I have not read many doujinshi (aside from some TnC ones sometime after I read a good part of the VN ^^”), but a while back I came across a series that I knew from the start that I’d definitely enjoy. Long reminiscing aside, the series I’m talking about is In these words, written by Kichiku Neko and illustrated by TogaQ.

1380169534-2535594524

Yes, it’s got beautifully drawn manly men doing things that are definitely 18+, but it also has a really good police/mystery sort of story going on. I don’t want to get into the specifics for fear of giving spoilers, but ITW definitely leaves you wondering about what the heck is really going on in the long run. Add to that a cast of genuinely likeable and intriguing characters and the author’s great sense of humour and you’ve got yourself one heck of a hidden gem of the BL universe  (~ ̄▽ ̄)~. Oh and don’t even get me started on the prequel series and side stories and whatnot.

All in all, ITW doesn’t even really register as a doujinshi, but rather a less well known proper manga series due to its professionalism and overall high quality.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 12 – Favorite BL voice actor

*scratches head* See the ‘problem’ I’ve got here is that I’m not too familiar with seyuus in general ^^”. I mean, yeah, I’ll be able to recognise someone’s voice across different anime, but I’m really bad with names and all that jazz :D:D.

Still, after doing some research here are the names and faces behind some of the most awesome voices I’ve heard in a BL context (which is basically limited to BL anime/VNs, as I haven’t actually listened to drama CDs a lot).

Konishi Katsuyuki (小西 克幸)

5b819edbe3c8ef51ed97eaa154e6d528

Notable in my world (and in this context) for his role as Takano in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi :D. I know he also voiced Soubi in Loveless, but I was never really a fan of that show ^^”. Still, this guy’s voice is beyond amazing.

Sakurai Takahiro (櫻井 孝宏)

55E

He voiced Misaki in Junjou Romantica!! 😀

Taniyama Kishou (谷山 紀章)

748a05462056cdd21da59ddacf4770f2

He voiced Sono-san from Sensitive Pornograph and Gunji in Togainu no Chi (the anime). This guy also voiced Jean Kirstein in Shingeki no Kyojin xD.

Midorikawa Hikaru (緑川 光)

hikaru-midorikawa

Because he was brilliant in the role of Shiki in Togainu no Chi. Not to mention Lancer and Rukawa, among others ^___________________^.

Nakazawa Masatomo (中澤 匡智)

28879

He voiced Clear from DRAMAtical Murder (in both the VN and anime)!!!! What more could one ask for? ♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ༶ )

I’ll stop here before for now. Hope this post didn’t turn out too bland xD.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 11 – Favorite BL mangaka

Well, two mangaka come to mind for this here post and they are Kyuugo (author of Sora wo daite oyasumi among others) and Yoneda Kou (Doushitemo Furetakunai, Saezuru tori wa Habatakanai). I also wanted to mention Rihito Takarai but then I realised I haven’t actually read any of her works yet Oo. Oh well, I’ll just have to fix that in the near future.

-yaoi-22353181-425-300

Either way, what I like about these authors is their clean art style, that manages to bring about characters that look good but are also a bit more on the realistic side of things. Most importantly though, the stories they write have a certain something-something. Yes they’ve got humour and good looking guys but a good chunk of them is also dedicated to letting the characters explore their feelings towards one another and towards the idea that they might be gay/falling in love with another guy (because that stuff’s always there :D) and just love in general.

So yeah, if you want to feel all warm and fuzzy inside and be flooded by boatloads of feelings every now and then, I highly recommend you check out their work if you haven’t done so already ^^.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂
