Day 4 – Favourite female anime character ever

Here’s another list coming your way ^^.

Kaname Madoka (from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

Despite seeming quite reserved and indecisive at first, by the end of the series she grows and trusts herself enough to do what she thinks is right (although I think it’s arguable that she had at least some of that self-confidence from the start). I guess what I like most about her is how kind and selfless she is.

Actually the more I think about it, the less I know how to put into words how much she’s moved me by doing what she did and how much I love her as a character. She’s definitely a character that I look up to ^^.

Ryougi Shiki (from Kara no Kyoukai)

Brown-Augen-Blüten-Ryougi-Shiki-Takeuch

(spoiler alert!!!) Although I feel a wee bit like cheating by putting her on this list, since one of the personalities inside her was male, when I think about Shiki I can’t help but consider him as well. Plus, you could argue that he’s isn’t around anymore anyways ( :-< ). (end of spoilers!! :D)

That aside, I’ve always admired how mature and collected Shiki is and you gotta love her ability to hit the nail on the head every now and again :D:D. I’ve found her a fascinating character from the start, most of the time without even knowing why.

Saber (from Fate/Zero)

Now i’m referring to F/Z specifically because I’ve seen F/SN (the Studio DEEN version) after F/Z and after the awesomeness that was Zero, Stay Night didn’t leave that much of an impression. Don’t get me wrong, Saber’s still awesome in that series as well, but I feel like her character was portrayed better in F/Z. Although I’m pretty sure I’ll be editing this after ufotable’s remake is finished airing and I watch it :D:D.

Aaaaaaanyways. Besides the fact that she’s awesome, Saber is brave, a brilliant fighter, kind, smart and selfless. Not to mention she’s probably one of the most noble characters out there. What’s not not love about her? 🙂

Noda Megumi (from Nodame Cantabile)

Boy it’s weird to write down her entire name Oo. Either way, Nodame is on the list because she’s one of those awfully goofy, bubbly characters that constantly does whatever she feels like (much to Chiaki’s dismay most of the time xD). She’s a great combination of childish and mature at the same time and she can play the piano.

Katsuragi Misato (from Neon Genesis Evangelion)

Katsuragi.Misato.full.443957

Anyone how’s watched Eva knows that pretty much everyone in that series is really fudged up. But despite having been through quite a few bad things, Misato still manages to keep a positive attitude and go on living her life. Not to mention that she has to deal with a couple of depressed teens whom she manages to keep in check while also acting as a carer and mentor for both of them. Add the fact that she’s a great commander and strategist who trusts her instincts even when faced with seemingly impossible odds and, in this writer’s humble opinion, you’ve got yourself one heck of a character ^^.

Characters I’d still like to mention: Akemi Homura from Mahou Shoujo madoka Magica – because of the sacrifices she’s capable of making, for having the strength to keep going no matter how bleak the situation she was in; San from Mononoke Hime – she fights for what she believes in no matter what the cost; Tooru Taki from Natsume Yuujinchou – she’s a great friend to Natsume and I can’t help but love her obsession with Nyanko-sensei :D.

As always, thank for reading! 🙂

Day 2 – Favourite anime you’ve watched so far

As with quite a few of the ‘days’ to come, this one’s gonna be a list rather than one particular title. Basically, I can’t choose just one series/movie because I really like several, each for different (or sometimes similar) reasons, etc., etc. For the sake of the posts though, I’ll limit the list to 5 titles. So yeah… on with the list :D.

Mononoke Hime (もののけ姫)

mononoke 2

Ever since I first saw this movie I’ve been astonished at how amazing and well rounded it is. It’s got a beautiful story, characters are great, art is amazing and the OST is just superb. This is definitely one of the animes that I could just re-watch a billion times and still not be sick of it.

Kara no Kyoukai (空の境界)

366302

“Mesmerised” is the only word that comes to mind just now while thinking how this series left me. True, I only saw the first seven movies and the epilogue when I initially watched it, but I was astonished at the amazing execution of this series. As confusing as it was because of the films’ order, it only made me want to re-watch it again, and again, and again. You get the gist :D.

Fate/Zero (フェイト/ゼロ)

509126

For me, this series has some of the most amazing characters out there. Everybody’s so well written and well thought out that even the bad guys fascinated me to no end and made me want to know more about them. Couple that with a brilliant story, superb animation and OST and you’ve got a masterpiece. Once again, this is a series that I could re-watch any number of times and still want more of it :D.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ)

Mahou-Shoujo-Madoka-Magica-mahou-shoujo-madoka-magica-37533192-1500-1060

Ah, the Madoka series… I have to admit, I could have done without the final movie (I don’t think it’s bad or anything, but for me the story seemed to have a good initial ending), still, this series is very close to my heart. Aside from the whole ‘deconstruction of the magical girl genre’ aspect, the series does a great job of portraying a group of believable characters and their struggles following the decision to take on a huge responsibility, not to mention the way this affects their relationships with each other and other ‘non-magical’ people.

Shiki (屍鬼)

shiki

I guess some would say this show isn’t really horror and whatnot, but I think that this is the best horror anime I’ve seen so far. One thing that I love about it is that it portrays what would happen if a family of vampires would decide to take over a small village in a very realistic way. And we’re talking real, can’t-come-into-the-house-unless-invited vampires.

Another thing that I love about this anime is that by the end of it you end up questioning whether or not vampires really are all that evil and who the actual ‘monsters’ are. All in all, it’s a great and very real story, with well drawn out characters and an OST that can enchant and creep you out at the same time ^^.

So that would be my ‘top 5’, if I’d have to name it in any way. Titles I’d still like to mention are: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (鋼の錬金術師 FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST), Kokoro Connect (ココロコネクト), Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ), Baccano!, Monster (モンスター), Haibane Renmei (灰羽連盟), Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し) and I’ll shush now or this list won’t end any time soon :D:D.
