MaHo Café: Our Christmas wishes for the New Year

Ho ho ho!

Time has come for us to bake some dough!

[see the picture below]

And what goes better with some cake

Than a pretty list-to-make?!

[some green tea maybe?]

But it’s not just any list,

Though you can get just the gist:

Oh, gods of Japanese media,

Do not care ‘bout our Nvidia,

Just give us our daily [anime] shows

Since your imagination overflows!

It is not such a big deal,

You just have to have some zeal;

So here’s our wishes in this post –

Just make out of them the most!

Baked Pumpkin Cheesecake

OK everyone, please don’t kill me for that poem (if it can be called that)… Moro you go first teeheehee!

A re-make of Togainu no Chi (the anime) would be nice. What’s your first wish?

Erm….I want the mooooost…a proper final ending (be it open or not) to the Madoka Magica series. Next!

I’ll second that and…I wish for the final Eva movie to be out already!

I wish for follow-up seasons for Kimi to Boku, Hyouka, and Chihayafuru.

New season of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, since Junjou has a third season.

Yesssssss, more Takano please!!!!! Kyaaaaaa~~~

More animations of BL stories like Doukyuusei.

More OVAs for HoriMiya – preferably containing its end, too!

Another VN from Nitro+Chiral—

YESSSSSSSS! I second that so hard[core] *cough*

It’d be nice to have a proper anime made out of Harry Potter —

Yes, without all the loopholes in the books, though.

So these are some of our wishes (with some moderation) – what are yours??

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 12 – Favorite BL voice actor

*scratches head* See the ‘problem’ I’ve got here is that I’m not too familiar with seyuus in general ^^”. I mean, yeah, I’ll be able to recognise someone’s voice across different anime, but I’m really bad with names and all that jazz :D:D.

Still, after doing some research here are the names and faces behind some of the most awesome voices I’ve heard in a BL context (which is basically limited to BL anime/VNs, as I haven’t actually listened to drama CDs a lot).

Konishi Katsuyuki (小西 克幸)

Notable in my world (and in this context) for his role as Takano in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi :D. I know he also voiced Soubi in Loveless, but I was never really a fan of that show ^^”. Still, this guy’s voice is beyond amazing.

Sakurai Takahiro (櫻井 孝宏)

He voiced Misaki in Junjou Romantica!! 😀

Taniyama Kishou (谷山 紀章)

He voiced Sono-san from Sensitive Pornograph and Gunji in Togainu no Chi (the anime). This guy also voiced Jean Kirstein in Shingeki no Kyojin xD.

Midorikawa Hikaru (緑川 光)

Because he was brilliant in the role of Shiki in Togainu no Chi. Not to mention Lancer and Rukawa, among others ^___________________^.

Nakazawa Masatomo (中澤 匡智)

He voiced Clear from DRAMAtical Murder (in both the VN and anime)!!!! What more could one ask for? ♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ༶ )

I’ll stop here before for now. Hope this post didn’t turn out too bland xD.

As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 9 – Favorite uke

Yellow there!

Yes, I am obviously awesome at keeping to a schedule but that aside, let’s move on to the next topic of the challenge! ^_^

The first character I thought about when seeing today’s theme was Rin from Togainu no Chi (咎狗の血), specifically, the VN.

Now I might be a bit biased ’cause his was the first route I landed on when I played my first yaoi VN, but heck, the fact that I ended up on his route still says something xD.

To me, a testament to how well-written and fleshed out this character is was always the fact that I never saw him as a youngster. I mention this because after finishing Rin’s route and being completely in love with him (xD) I read around about him some more only to find out that he’s supposed to be the ‘little boy’ of the group of characters that make up the main cast of TnC. I clearly remember reading this and having the same reaction as I had when seeing him at the end of his route, and going ‘WHAT?! O_o’. Yes, Rin is described as a bit girly due to his small stature and because he looks and is quite younger than the rest of the characters, but never for a second did I ever see him as a kid among older guys (of which frankly, most aren’t that old either  (¯―¯٥)  ). And yes, Rin is supposed to be the goofy, playful one of the bunch, but do take a look at the above picture and remember his story and his demeanor and tell me if this character is still just ‘a kid’.

Anyways, that being said, while I never thought of Rin as a child (and part of me kind of rejects his ‘older’ design from the end of the VN), the childish behaviour he displays at times is definitely one of the traits that make him charming  (・ω<). Pair that with his mature side, humour and wits and you get quite the charismatic character ^^.

Another character I’d like to mention is Ichinose Roku from Sora wo daite oyasumi (空をだいておやすみ).

(Roku’s the character on the bottom of the page :D:D)

I don’t know why I didn’t think of mentioning Sora earlier as it is quite an interesting manga. Be warned though, everyone’s quite messed up in this story as well  。゚・(>﹏<)・゚。. Either way, the story’s still ongoing-ish (at least I hope so, as it’s been on hiatus for quite some time now).

I’m not gonna say much about Roku as I don’t even know that much about him (and I don’t want to get into spoiler territory :D). Again, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally hope they continue the manga. He’s haunted by a certain set of events from his past and boatloads of guilt because of what happened to his twin brother. Although he doesn’t socialise much these days, there’s a certain something-something about him that makes you want to know more. Now that I said the above I can’t help but wonder if I’m turning into Yashiro Shuji (another character from the series) xD. Either way, go check out the manga if you haven’t already and if you’re into dramatic, psychological, messed-up stuff ^^.

I think I’ll end this post here, for now at least.

As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re having a lovely day! 🙂

Day 8 – Favorite love scene

Well initially I was sitting here, scratching the top of my head and trying to come up with a good answer. If I had to chose a scene where the characters specifically sleep with each other, I would go with the last love making scene from Sakura Gari (樱狩). However, there’s a wee bit too much drama in that manga overall and that somehow affected my overall enjoyment of it. Then there’s the love scene from Touch me again (タッチ・ミー・アゲイン). An interesting thing about this one is that you don’t even get to see anyone do anything. The reader merely see glimpses of that night, accompanied by the characters’ reminiscing and pondering and their feelings about what had happened at that time.

However, most of the moments that ‘stole my heart’ and made me giddy beyond belief didn’t really involve any intercourse in the first place. So the following is a list of what I wanted to write about in the first place, as I was literally banging my head against the wall trying to come up with scenes along the lines of the above. WARNING!!!! Kinda-sorta spoilers ahead :D. Not that you can have many mind-blowing spoilers in a yaoi, but hey xD. They’re mostly to do with details concerning the characters’ stories/path (cause some are from VNs).

  • Akira and Rin’s first kinda-sorta kiss (at least, I’m fairly sure that this was their first kiss), from Togainu no Chi (咎狗の血). Now I say ‘kinda-sorta’ because (don’t quote me on this though, it’s been a while since I read the VN ^^”) Rin was unconscious and Akira attempted to give him some water – because that’s the most legit thing to do give the circumstances – aaaaand cue the mouth to mouth xD. Apparently, Rin was dreaming all the while, specifically about some past unrequited love of his and ends up thinking that Akira is that guy and starts to kiss him. Or something-something along those lines xD.

Now my clumsy way of presenting stuff most definitely makes this seem less intriguing than it actually is, but I swear that scene was sexy as fudge!!!! Now go read the VN! xD

  • This scene from In these words –

I hadn’t even read the manga at the time I first saw this panel, but dear lord, I loved it from the start. And after I got my hands on the manga, I couldn’t help but love this scene (not to mention Shinohara) even more. This illustration is also one of many that demonstrate TogaQ’s immense talent. I mean, I feel sad and pained just by looking at Shinohara’s expression. Ok, I’ll shush with the drama for now xD.

  • The entire OVA about Onodera and Takano while they were still in high school, from the Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi (世界一初恋) series. That episode just oozes fluff and emotion and is beyond awesome! ^___^

  • Pretty much every moment when Nezumi and Shion are together – with special emphasis on their kiss scenes xD – from No.6.

  • Clear’s return to Aoba, in DMMd, the VN. Enough said :D:D.

  • I can’t find a suitable image for it and I sure as fudge am too lazy to dig out my copy of One of these nights just now and take a picture, but the scene where Katsuya just shows up at David’s hotel room in the middle of the night and they hug (before moving on to the more 18+ activities xD) is just superb (♥ω♥ ) ~♪.

Can’t think of anything else just now, so I’ll leave it at that. As always, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Day 1 – The first BL you ever read/watched

Well…….. the very 1st BL thingy I ever came across was a fanfic and that was a billion years ago :D:D.

If I had to go for ‘official’ stuff I’d have to say the following:

The first BL anime I’ve ever watched was Junjou Romantica  (純情ロマンチカ) ^^. I remember stumbling upon it one night and then marathoning the series, while raging at how silly it was at times and laughing my butt off the whole time.

Later edit:

Fuuuuudge!! Stop the presses! xD It just hit me – the first even remotely BL anime I’ve ever watched is in fact Gravitation (グラビテーション) Oo.

I guess the anime didn’t stick with me cause I saw it quite a while ago and while the premise of it was nice, the only thing about it that I remember is the same song being played over and over and the fact that I disliked how the main character looks waay too much like a little girl :/. But yeah, feel free to carry on with your life now that you read this shattering revelation that I just had to ramble about xD.

The first BL I’ve ever read is probably Togainu no Chi (咎狗の血), the visual novel.

This was also the 1st VN I’ve ever read so it was definitely quite the experience. I have to confess though, I have yet to read the story’s true ending ^^“. Plus I lost all my in-game progress at some point, so yeah, happy days xD. No that I’ll mind re-reading TnC.

Kind of in the same category but not quite would be Sakura Gari (樱狩), as I’m pretty sure it’s the 1st BL manga I’ve ever actually read.

Yes, while I enjoy reading cute and fluffy stuff as much as the next person, I’m a sucker for drama and tragedy and whatnot and that’s probably how I ended up reading this manga first :D:D.

So yep, these are my first encounters with BL as a genre. I’m not adding descriptions for the series as it’s definitely more fun to find out what these stories are about on your own ^^. As always, thanks a bunch for stopping by! 🙂
